School Hours

The school day begins at 8:10 a.m. and ends with dismissal at 2:30 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Tuesday is an early release day with dismissal at 1:00 pm.

Covid 2021-22 Policies:

Morning arrival and drop-off is an important time to practice safe routines and to follow the laws in our community. Crosswalks are clearly marked and should be used when crossing, especially from 8:00 am to 8:20 am.

We will continue to use the structure we did last year as far as drop off is concerned.  The teaching assistants and the Principal will be outside at 8:00.

Each grade level enters the building at a separate location.**

  • K: Kindergarten students will line up outside of the exterior door of their classroom on Fayette Street.
  • Grade 1: First graders will line up on the basketball court by teacher name and will enter through the front door.
  • Grade 2: Second graders will line up by teacher name on the four-square black top.  The lines will be parallel to the school and will enter through the front door.
  • Grade 3: Third graders will line up by teacher name on the basketball court.  They will enter through the front door.
  • Grade 4: Fourth grade students will line up by teacher name on the basketball court.  The lines will be parallel to the school and will enter through the cafeteria doors.
  • Grade 5: Fifth graders will line up by teacher name on the cricket field and will enter through the cafeteria doors.

**Teachers will greet students for the first several days of school to help them learn our arrival routines.

We are asking people to enter the school grounds for line up via the fire lane (the blacktop area just next to the play structure).  If your child is lining up on the basketball court or Cricket Field, we ask that you enter the court and field from the side farthest away from the school.  There is no fence there and children will not have to pass their classmates.

If your child arrives after the lines have entered the building, they will enter through the front door.  We ask that the adult who brings the child to school say “Good-bye” at the rainbow and not enter the school building.

Covid 2021-22 Policies:

Families are  encouraged to send snacks with their children for consumption in the morning or later in the day. Children can take advantage of the partnership with Arlington EATS and obtain a snack at school. The school has snacks available to all children. A specific snack time is scheduled for those students who have an early lunch.

Parents can ask the teacher if the snack needs to be nut free.

All visitors need to sign in and sign out in the main office. Additionally all visitors must wear a “visitor” badge.

Parents can ask the teacher if the snack needs to be nut free.

There is street parking located on Eastern Avenue outside the school.

During snow storms the side of Eastern closest to the school will be blocked off.

The Drop Off area outside the school is intended for quick stops, especially during arrival and dismissal times.

Please do not block fire hydrants and crosswalks.

Parents and children are reminded that pets are not allowed on school property. This is both a safety issue and a health concern. Please do not walk dogs or other animals on the school grounds. This also applies to families when dropping off and picking up their children. When medically required and prescribed, service animals are allowed. Communication with the building principal about a service animal is required.
Students should walk bikes and scooters to the bike racks in the back of the school.
If you will be volunteering in your child’s classroom and or chaperoning field trips, you must complete a CORI form. Please see Mrs. Killeen in the main office.
