Family Newsletter Week of 11/21/2024

Dear Brackett Families,

Thank you to everyone for their generous donations for the Fall Food Drive. We are still collecting food items next week through Monday, December 2. Check out this flier for more information.

As many of you have probably already heard, the Robbins Farm Park playground will have its grand opening ribbon cutting on Saturday, November 23 at 9:30! We will continue to use the field during the school day as we expect that our playground will open the week after Thanksgiving. YAY! We will still have a bit of work to complete in the spring, but students will soon have the majority of the space to play.

Please remember that next Wednesday Nov 27 is an early dismissal day. Students will be dismissed at 11:30am. Bag lunches will be available for all students.

In addition to this weekly email, Brackett School posts on Instagram. Follow us for photo updates throughout the week!

Best,
Dr. Vice

Movie Night

The fifth grade class would like to invite the Brackett community to their fundraiser Movie Night on Friday, December 6 (doors open at 6:00 p.m.; the movie will start at 6:30 pm).  They will be showing “Ferdinand,” in honor of this year’s fifth grade mascot, the Brackett Bulls.

Come watch the story of Ferdinand, a giant bull with a big heart who is mistaken for a dangerous beast; after being torn from his home, he rallies a misfit team of friends for the ultimate adventure to return to his family.

This fundraiser supports the fifth grade fund and has a suggested donation of $5/person up to $20/family.  Pizza, drinks, and snacks will be sold beginning at 6:00 p.m. – be sure to check out the fifth grade bake sale!

Little Rainbows Event

The Rainbow Alliance students are co-hosting a Little Rainbows event!!  On December 3rd from 2:30-3:15. The RA and the PTO have joined forces to host a relaxed social gathering for K-2 to bring together LGBTQIA+ families, students and allies. There will be snacks, crafts, read-alouds and games. We will gather outside if the weather is nice or inside the Music room if it is not.

Fifth Grade Volunteering

The 5th grade committee has a community service sub-group that will be planning at least 5-6 optional volunteer opportunities for students this year. Read this letter for more info. The 12/3 & 12/11 dates for Arlington EATS filled up quickly! If you missed out, there will be more opportunities to come. The latest community service info will be available on the 5th grade committee’s website. And parents of all grades may want to check out this family volunteering resource guide.
