Dear Brackett Families,
This four day week was full of joy and learning at the Brackett School.
Our Kindergarteners had a HUGE week. Not only did they get to play on the newly opened Kindergarten play yard (YAY!), but many of them rode on a school bus for the very first time on their way to their first field trip to LEGOLAND. Kindergarten just completed the first EL literacy module in which they became play experts, writing about the attributes of toys and how best to play together.
Second graders wrote letters to Arlington Veterans thanking them for their service. Letters will be presented to veterans by the Director of Arlington Veteran Services at their ceremony on Monday.
Fifth graders joined a consultant artist from the Beautiful Stuff Project to brainstorm ideas for a new art installation that our entire community will be working on together. They talked about what belonging and courage meant as they created symbols for our mosaic. Families will be able to participate in this process at Culture and Creativity Night on November 15.
Brackett students in all grades are thinking about what courage means to them within their PE, Music, Library, and Art classes. Courage is the first of four community values included in CHIRP, our new school-wide expectation framework.
Our faculty spent time learning together on Tuesday. We explored the big playground and practiced writing social stories to support students once we open the gates in a few weeks.
Here is the PTO Newsletter full of information about upcoming events and ways to volunteer.
I feel so fortunate to spend my day with this amazing community of future leaders who are learning about inclusion and collaboration, how to care for others, and being brave and trying new things.
Best,
Dr. Vice
