Family Newsletter Week of 10/31/2024

Dear Brackett Families,

Thank you to the families and students who participated in Pick Up at Pick Up on Wednesday! Creating beautiful spaces that our students and staff are proud to work in is a core practice within our EL curriculum. Students caring for common spaces is a way that they demonstrate leadership in contributing to a better world.

Next week, the fifth graders will be holding an Election Day Bake Sale on Tuesday, November 5, 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. in the Brackett Lobby to fundraise for their fifth-grade activities, yearbook, and class t-shirt. Stop by and support!

Fifth graders:  There is still time to Sign Up Here if you want to contribute baked goods or volunteer to staff our sale!

Families in Grades 1-5 should have received their DIBELS reports. Kindergarten families will receive these in a few weeks. MCAS results (Grades 4 & 5 families) were sent out by the central office last week. If you have not received either of these, please email Ms. Robinson

Have a fun, safe evening!

Best,
Dr. Vice

Playground Parade

The students are so very excited about our new playground and would like to show our appreciation to the crew that worked so hard to make it happen. We are planning a school-wide parade soon and need PAPER TOWEL ROLLS!!! Please send any donations to Brackett library. Thank you so much

Pumpkin Rescue

Pumpkin drop off will be during the morning of Monday 11/4. The toss-in to the composting containers will be at 12:30. Pumpkins should be placed in front of the flagpole. Adult volunteers will be there to help families. All paint and decorations need to be cut off of the pumpkins before being brought to the school.

Culture & Creativity Night

Culture & Creativity Night, Friday 11/15 @ 6:30pm

Sign-up now to share in our 5th annual Culture & Creativity Night.

We identify ourselves in so many ways – by language of origin, abilities, family structure, ethnicity, etc. This diversity of cultural identity enriches our school. We want to highlight and celebrate the cultural diversity of our community. We’ll celebrate with “museum tables,” arts and crafts, music, activities, and a sampling of diverse cuisines from around the world!

From the Nurse

Take-Home COVID Tests Available for Symptomatic Students & Staff

Our supply of rapid COVID tests have arrived. These are available upon request, to be sent home with symptomatic students or staff. Please remember to report any positive test results to the school nurse and continue to follow the APS Illness Guidelines

Illness Season is Upon Us

Coughing, sore throats, and fevers are making the rounds, as cold and flu season has begun. We have seen cases of strep throat, atypical (walking) pneumonia, and a variety of upper respiratory infections all throughout the district. This is a great time of year to review the district's Illness Guidelines in order to know when to keep your student home. Please consult your student's pediatrician for any persistent or worsening illness symptoms (cough, fever, sore throat, etc.), so that your student can be evaluated.

If a cluster or outbreak of a specific communicable illness is identified in a classroom or specific group of students, a notice will be sent home to the parents/guardians. Generally, the threshold for a cluster is three cases within ten days. Please reach out to me directly to report any diagnosed illnesses such as strep throat, influenza, COVID, or pneumonia so that I can track this data and make informed decisions on notification.
