Dear Brackett Families,
I’m excited to update you on the progress of the playground.
All of the play equipment in the big playground and the underlying squishy surface is in! Today the crew has been working on paving the walkways, basketball court, and the underlying permeable surface for Cricket Field. While these surfaces cure, the crew will move over to the Kindergarten playground to place the structures and then fill the space with wood chips. The construction of the basketball court fencing, placement of benches and trash cans will happen next followed by inspections and final work.
The rainbow coloring for both the squishy and hard surfaces will need to wait until the spring at which time we will do a ribbon cutting ceremony! Main play areas will be open for students before spring though some fencing will remain as landscaping grows in.
I know better than to put an exact date on when these areas will be open, but I can say that I am extremely pleased with the progress as it relates to the initial timeline for a late fall opening. This has truly been a tremendous effort by our contractor, design team, and school facilities department!
Best,
Dr. Vice

Coming Soon: Restock of COVID-19 Tests Available at School
An order has been placed for a resupply of COVID-19 test kits for Brackett. These tests are available for symptomatic students or staff. Refer to the district's Respiratory Illness Guidelines for details. The APS nurses no longer perform COVID-19 testing at schools, but will send home a test kit with symptomatic individuals, upon request. An update will be provided when the tests are delivered to Brackett.
Attention 5th Grade Families:
We’re kicking off our Fifth Grade Committee fundraising with a Bake Sale on Election Day (Tuesday, November 5) to support the 5th Grade Class.
We need families to contribute baked goods for our sale: brownies, cookies, bars, muffins, cupcakes, breakfast goodies, and more!
Don’t feel like baking? No problem! Store-bought goods are equally amazing!
Donate your goodies at drop-off and pick-up on Monday, November 4 or during the bake sale on Tuesday, November 5.
We also need 5th Graders to help run the sale! This is a great time for 5th graders to come together and help with fundraising for their 5th Grade activities.
Sign up to contribute or volunteer here!
