Family Newsletter Week of 10/3/2024

Dear Brackett Families,

Next week is the first Coffee with Dr. Vice of the school year. This year we will have special guests at each of our Coffee events. These guests are professionals who work at Brackett and have special roles in our community, either as specialists or related service providers.

Oct 8 – Reading & Math Specialists

Dec 10 – Social Workers

Feb 11 – Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments

May 6 – Speech-Language Pathologist /Multilingual Learning Specialist

During each coffee, we will begin by having our guests answer the following questions:

  1. In general, what is a _____?
  2. What do you do in your role here at Brackett?
  3. How do you partner with families?

Afterwards we will have time for Q&A about general topics. The PTO will provide coffee. Feel free to drop your children at breakfast and join us! Location TBD. Hope to see you all there!

Best,

Dr. Vice

Illness Reminders - Staying Home When Sick

With everyone back together in school, oftentimes working in close groups, it's all too easy for germs and illnesses to make their rounds. Please remember to follow the district illness guidelines, and stay home when you/your student meet the guideline criteria. Student absences due to illness can be excused with a note from a health care provider (i.e. your pediatrician).

Not coming to school when we are acutely ill is one of the best mitigation strategies that we can utilize. Some other tips for when you/your student are feeling under the weather, but are well enough to attend school:

  • Although not required, consider wearing a face mask to help stop the spread of germs. Spare face masks are available in the nurse's office.
  • Wash hands often - before eating, after using the bathroom, after playing outside, after coughing or blowing your nose, and any other time that hands are visibly soiled.
  • If you have a cough, remember to cover by coughing into your elbow.

Remember - sharing is caring, just not with germs!

Community Event

Save the date for Spooky Walk at Menotomy Rocks Park (Jason Street entrance) from 6:30-8:00 pm on Saturday, October 26th (rain date October 27th). It's a great way to get into the Halloween spirit and test drive those costumes! For those who have enjoyed it for years, please pay it forward.

We're looking for 4th-8th grade and adult volunteers to dress up or create a "Spooky Station" for the little ones to enjoy. For more information, email: [email protected]. Check out the Facebook page to learn more.
