Family Newsletter week 6/13/2024

Dear Brackett Families,

Today was amazing! Our kindergarteners had their last day of school, second grade had water day, and we all enjoyed the beautiful weather before it heats up next week.

Today our fifth graders celebrated the end of their time at Brackett with their families. There was a procession, music, thank yous to families and teachers, a top ten list of the fifth graders’ favorite memories, and much much more. As I said to the fifth graders:

You welcomed Mr. Vanderlaine and me into your Brackett community without reservations. You shared your ideas and your traditions. You helped us keep track of all the younger students every morning and think of fun ways to be together and take care of our community. You let us know when we did things right and when we had room to improve. More than anything, you showed us that you loved being together and helped us find solutions when the size of your class made this tricky.

These skills – of advocacy, of taking care of each other, of knowing how to have fun and learn – are the very skills you will need in middle school. You’ve got this. I know you do. And when you are worried or doubt yourself, as all middle schoolers do, I hope that you will look back at Brackett and know that all of us here are still ready to support you. You are very special to us.

As we enter into summer, I know that families are already wondering what faces they will see when we start again in September. Mr. Vanderlaine, Ms. Robinson, and I are all excited to return.

We celebrated Ms. Fern LaRocca’s retirement today, wishing her well while promising to read in her honor. In addition, we wish happy next journeys to our paraprofessionals, Jackie Permutter, Aidan Griffin, Olivia Sakorafos, Anthony Cataldo, Michael Giangregorio, Alejandro Paulino, and our social work intern, Micaela Corcoran.

Here is a projected list of grade level and other faculty/staff assignments for the 2024-2025 School Year.

Best,
Dr. Vice
