Dear Brackett Families,
Happy Leap Day! Literacy week and the Read-a-Thon are off to a great start. As a VERY special treat, Mrs. Z and Dr. Homan stopped by yesterday as guest readers. Check out Instagram for pictures!
Tomorrow is Dress like a Book Character Day! Don't forget to keep logging those Read-A-Thon minutes in the digital reading log and vote for which inflatable costumes you want to see Mr. Vanderlaine and me wear. Let's reach our school wide goal of 200,000 minutes read!
On Monday, March 4 there will be a Zoom presentation by the playground design committee for families at 6:30pm. This will be an opportunity to see the proposed design, ask questions, and provide feedback before the project moves forward.

From the Nurse
The SNAP Health Portal is live!
The portal was launched on Monday 2/26. If you have not done so already, please make sure you are able to successfully log in. The initial invitation was sent to parents/guardians from [email protected] (remember to check your spam/junk folder if it isn't in your inbox). Please note that this was sent to the emails that are on file in PowerSchool. If your email in PowerSchool is outdated or incorrect, please update this in PowerSchool at your earliest convenience, and I can resend the portal invitation to you.
Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the portal and all of its capabilities and functions. Additional instructions and information can be found here, as well as the APS Nursing website. If you have any questions or issues logging in, please let me know. Looking forward to utilizing this wonderful new tool!
ABClub Fundraiser
The Arlington Belonging Club is hosting a fundraiser on Tuesday, March 12 from 2:30 - 3:00 on the brick patio in the front of the school. We will be selling bracelets, pencils, and stickers with positive messages for $1. The members of the club have decided they'll use the money collected to donate inclusive picture books to teachers/staff to promote belonging in the Brackett community. We hope to see you there!
Upcoming Parent/Guardian Workshop
To follow up on the latest Coffee with Dr. Vice, here is another opportunity to talk about child technology use.
Massachusetts Partnership for Youth (MPY) presents "Navigating the Cyber World"
This workshop reviews the challenges and dangerous situations that may arise through use of the internet, social media, and smartphones. It is important for school staff and parents to be aware of the popular apps, social media sites, and programs used by youth online. This workshop explains the issues and possible consequences of cyberbullying, sexting, and revealing identifying information to strangers.
