Family Newsletter Week of 12/21/2023

Dear Brackett Families,

This time of year is filled with celebrations of family and friends. It is a season of joy for many of us as we count down to the new year. As a school, we arrive at our first long break exhausted and excited. Most students (and teachers) are thrilled to have a few days to step out of the normal routine, relax, and restore.

Yet, this break in routine is hard for some as they enjoy the comfort that school routines bring and are worried about how to navigate the emotions of time away. We have been supporting all of our students as they anxiously await 2:30pm tomorrow. Please reach out if there is anything that you need before then.

For me, this time of year is also a time of reflection. As we described in our entry plan, Mr Vanderlaine and I have spent the last few months getting to know our community. We have connected with many and are still seeking others out to hear their stories of life at Brackett. One theme that continues to be at the forefront of our thoughts is that Brackett is an incredible school, fabulous in so many ways, but also in need of change and growth. We need to work together to thoughtfully care for our community to be one that is inclusive and a place of belonging for all students.

It is important to remember that growth is not always linear; it often includes mistakes and apologies, care and healing, forgiveness and moving forward. Growth is not easy. But as I reflect on heading into the new year, I truly believe that we can do this together. It is this belief that makes me so proud to be at Brackett.

Have a wonderful break and a lovely New Year. I cannot wait to see everyone in PJs tomorrow for Spirit Day!

Yours,

Dr. Vice

Take a Survey to Help Fox & Robbins Libraries

Please consider completing this brief survey (5-10 minutes or less) by 1/12/24 to help the Libraries as they are applying for funding to start the process to rebuild and reimagine the Fox Branch and to improve services overall across both branches. Your feedback is critical!  https://www.robbinslibrary.org/libraries-for-all-building-a-new-future-for-the-fox-branch-library/

From the Nurse:

We have received our supply of free rapid COVID-19 test kits! They are located in the main office. Please remember to take only 1-2 boxes per person, so that there are enough to go around. Tests are available to all Brackett students, families and staff, until supplies last.
