Family Newsletter Week of 12/14/2023

Dear Families,

Over the next month, you will be receiving information about your child’s progress in school in various forms.

  • On Friday afternoon, I will send out a brief communication to let you know that progress reports are available to read on PowerSchool. Progress reports provide a brief overview into how your child is learning according to the different standards assessed at their grade level.

  • Fall DIBELS reports, for those families who have not yet received them, were mailed yesterday and will arrive at your homes soon. In the letter is information about the DIBELS assessment, how teachers use this report, and how to look at it as a family.

  • Conferences in January provide a deeper dive into your child’s progress and are a time for you to see classwork, ask questions, and get insight into how your child is developing both academically and socially.

All three of these provide different looks into learning. Through the combination of these, we hope that you will see a full scope of your child’s experience here at Brackett since the beginning of the school year.

Best,
Dr. Vice

Free COVID-19 Test Kits Available Soon

The Biden-Harris Administration announced a recent partnership to distribute free over-the-counter rapid antigen COVID-19 test kits to schools. APS registered to participate in the program and an order will be placed shortly. When our shipment arrives, hopefully before the winter break, COVID-19 test kits will be made available in the main office of every school. We'll send another message when the test kits have arrived. Please only take 1 or 2 test kits per person at a time. COVID-19 test kits are intended for all students, families, staff, and the school community, and will be available until supplies last.

Kindly remember to notify your building school nurse directly of all positive COVID-19 cases. Thank you for your continued support.
