Dear Families,
Thank you to those of you who participated in the Panorama Survey. Brackett had over 60% of families participating. This is fantastic in that it provides important data about next steps for us going forward. We will review how we include even more families next year.
It is COLD!! Coats, hats, and gloves are important for children to bring to school as it is important for them to get outside safely during the school day. We monitor both the temperature and the wind chill as we determine when to go out as well as when we will move to an inside arrival. If you need assistance getting winter gear, please let me or your child’s teacher know. And – as I’ve said before – label everything so that we can get items returned if they go missing.
Yours,
Dr. Vice

AEF STARS – Recognize our amazing teachers by Dec 10!
The Arlington Education Foundation (AEF) is launching its winter STARs fundraising campaign!
The generous donations made by APS families through the STARs campaign allowed us to award $198,000 in grants to Arlington educators during the 2022-2023 school year!
A donation of $20 to AEF purchases a STAR Certificate of Appreciation for the teacher, specialist, or staff member you choose to recognize.
Purchase your 'STAR' before December 10th and your honoree(s) will receive their certificate before the winter break. Click here or go to www.AEFMA.org/stars
Last year in addition to projects at other schools, AEF was able to fund a nature lab/animal artifacts to be added to the art room at Brackett, fostering a greater art and science connection. in the previous academic year! INCREDIBLE!
From the Nurse
Attending School with Mild Illness Symptoms
If your student is experiencing mild illness symptoms (i.e. congestion, sore throat), they do not meet the illness guidelines for staying home and are free of any communicable disease (COVID, strep, flu, etc.), they may attend school. It is strongly encouraged that those with mild illness symptoms wear a face mask until symptoms fully resolve. This mitigation strategy can help to stop the spread of any germs that may infect others. If you do not have a supply of masks at home, they are available in the school nurse's office. Please reach out to the nurse with any questions or concerns.
