Family Newsletter Week of 10/26/2023

Dear Brackett Families,

I hope that everyone marked their calendars for November 8 and March 29. Per Dr. Homan’s message, these days are when we will be making up the time missed because of the water main break. Messaging from after school programs will come soon to clarify how these programs will be impacted, if at all.

With many in town celebrating Halloween next week, I wanted to remind you that students should not wear their costumes to school on Halloween. In addition, candy collected or as treats for other students should be left at home. I know that this may be disappointing for some children, but the fifth graders on the student council are working on upcoming spirit days for us all to enjoy! Stay tuned for these!

Finally, please remember that there is no school on Wednesday, November 1 as it is a professional development day for our faculty,

Best,
Dr. Vice

Managing Student Injuries at School:

There may be times that, due to injury or other conditions, students may need activity restrictions and/or accommodations at school. If your student will need to use any assistive device (crutches, cast, boot, wheelchair, etc.), you must provide a doctor's note to the school nurse. The note should include any accommodations needed at school (i.e., crutches, use of elevator), as well as any activity restrictions (i.e., no Physical Education and recess until cleared). Please note that students may not return to PE/recess until a clearance note from the doctor is on file with the school nurse. Thank you for your communication and partnership in supporting our students!

APS Nutrition & Wellness Policy:

As we near the holiday season, we recognize that food is often a part of many joyous celebrations. During your celebrations and holiday observances, please remember that APS has a nutrition and wellness policy that states that all classroom celebrations must be food free. Parents/guardians may send their individual students to school with whatever food they deem appropriate. Healthy options are encouraged. Food should not be shared. The full APS Nutrition and Wellness Policy can be found here
