Brackett Make Up Day

Dear Brackett Community,

We are writing to inform you about plans to make up the missed school day on Thursday, October 12th. Massachusetts law requires 180 days of school for all students, and we have already lost valuable learning hours to unexpected weather and emergency outages this school year. We are committed to ensuring that all of the instructional time from Thursday, October 12th is recovered.

We have considered several options that would pose the least disruption to student learning, teacher professional development, and family planning. None of the options available to us are ideal, of course, but we hope the following plan will work for the most families:

  • Brackett Elementary will be OPEN on Friday, March 29th, 2024 (Good Friday) from 8:00am-1:00pm (early release schedule). Families who observe Good Friday may call their child in for an excused absence for religious observance.
  • Brackett Elementary will have a FULL DAY of school for students on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023 (release at 2:30pm). This would ordinarily be an early release day.

We ask that you mark your calendars and plan accordingly, and we will be sure to remind you as these days approach.

Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and partnership as we have navigated some unanticipated surprises to start the school year. We apologize for the inconveniences. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Dr. Elizabeth C. Homan Dr. Gretchen Vice
