Family Newsletter Week of 10/5/2026

Dear Brackett Families,

Next Wednesday, October 11 from 8:05-8:45am in the cafeteria, I will host the first Coffee with Dr. Vice sponsored by the PTO. This will be an informal gathering where we will collect ideas/topics for future events that are important to families. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Things to ask about…

Yesterday we had the fire department visit with all students to review fire safety as a part of National Fire Prevention week (Oct 8-14). The fire fighters reviewed what to do during a fire. They talked about what families should talk about together, such as changing the batteries in the smoke detectors and making a family meeting place if a fire happens. On October 14, a mid-day event will be held in Arlington center at the Fire Station. I hope Brackett families will attend!

As a reminder, there is no school on Monday in celebration of Indigenous People’s Day.

Best,

Dr. Vice

Clubs and Math Mornings!

It is exciting to see so many clubs starting in October. The Rainbow Alliance, Chorus, Belonging Club, and Student Council have all either started or will begin next week. Please reach out if you would like to receive additional information on any of these.

Math mornings begin tomorrow, Friday October 6 at 7:20am.

Class Representatives Needed!

The PTO still needs volunteers to be class representatives for the following classrooms:

Nechtem

McHugo

Taffel

Duggan

Calcaterra

Lowe

Hood

LaRocca

Please email [email protected] to volunteer! Representatives are important to our community in providing communication and support at the classroom level. Thank you so much for considering.

From the Nurse:

Beginning tomorrow, the nursing team will be performing the state-mandated hearing and vision screenings at school. BMI (grades 1 and 4) and postural screenings (grade 5) will happen later in the year. You may opt your student out of the screening(s) by completing this Google Form.

If your student should require further evaluation by an outside health care provider, Ms. Baras  will contact you to discuss next steps. Please do not hesitate to contact her with any questions or concerns.
