Family Newsletter week of 9/21/2023

Dear Brackett Families,

Next week we invite grown-ups into the building on Thursday Sep 28 for Back to School Night from 6-8pm. This is an amazing opportunity for you to learn from your child’s teachers as we partner together to instill joy in learning for all our students.

During class presentations, your child’s teacher will invite you to engage with the space and learn generally about the curriculum. In between the two grade-focused sessions, we will have a Meet & Greet/Involvement Fair in the gym. This gives you the opportunity to meet with our amazing specialists, sign up for the PTO, and submit CORI paperwork to volunteer for the school.

  • 6:00-6:45pm  K–2 Class Presentations
  • 6:45-7:15pm  Meet & Greet/Involvement Fair
  • 7:15-8:00pm  3–5 Class Presentations

If childcare is a concern, please reach out to me directly.

See you next Thursday!

Best,

Dr. Vice

Math Mornings – Grades 3-5

MATH MORNINGS for Grades 3-5 begin on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6th, 7:20AM

On behalf of the Brackett STEM Committee, teams of parents will again be running MATH MORNINGS Friday mornings at 7:20am.

Math Morning is an extracurricular, supplemental math program intended to inspire and energize students by presenting interesting math topics. Each session typically includes a brief slide presentation on the topic, followed by worksheets with fun exercises. This is not part of the school math curriculum but is meant as a fun activity to increase interest and excitement in math! Grown-ups are invited and encouraged to stay and assist their child.

We’re looking for 3rd Grade Parents Interested in helping out! Please contact Jamie Strand if you’d like to participate!

Volunteers for Family Math Nights

As part of the STEM parent committee, we are in the process of organizing 3 Brackett Family Math Nights (BFMN) and need help from grown-up volunteers for each night.

The BFMNs invite students and their grown-ups for a playful evening of hands-on mathematical exploration to enjoy dozens of diverse math- and logic-based puzzles and games, work in small groups to solve logic “mysteries” etc. Activities are designed to be appropriate for each grade, regardless of math background, and regardless of whether they already love math or haven’t yet discovered how much there is to love.

Family Math Nights are run by Brackett families. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Federico Fraschetti (parent of a 3rd and 5th grader) at federico.fraschetti@cfa.harvard.edu
